The Chicago Stones

Like many family histories, this story began with a man's acquisition of land; that land purchased in 1835 would fund three generations. Take a romp through one hundred years of Stone and Yager history, with their lifestyle on full display in colorful scandal!

Includes transcriptions of original records, pre- and post-1871 Chicago fire records and discussions, a Register style of the Yager genealogy, and recommended listening.

Recast is transcriptions of births, marriages, divorces, and deaths that were reported in the weekly publication Variety between January 1918 and December 1919. This was a turbulent time in world history: the Spanish Flu Epidemic and the end of the First World War. There are over 240 entries for deaths from the flu in this publication, and a majority are for persons below the age of 40, who often did not have direct descendants (children). A generation of entertainers, gone.

The e-book is free here.

Research in Hawaii, part of the National Genealogical Society's Research in the States series, focuses on resources available in-person and online for those whose ancestral families were in Hawaii from Kingdom to Territory to Statehood. There is a focus on Native Hawaiian resources along with Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese, and other ethnic groups that were in Hawaii. More information on the Special Publication can be seen at the NGS Website: https://www.ngsgenealogy.org/ris/hawaii/
